We had our last ride of the 2009 season yesterday to the Seven Troughs area. We had a good turn out of 15 or so people. Everyone seems to have a good time and it wasn't too cold, except when we were at the top of the peak and the wind picked up. Everyone made it through the ride without any problems, which is a great way to end the year.
It won't be long now until it's 2010 and we are meeting again to plan our next season. Be sure to check back here on the web site to see what is going on and the dates, times and places for our planning meetings. Each year it seems we have added more rides to the schedule. This year we had a few weekends where we had rides on Saturday and Sunday. How did everyone enjoy that? Do we want to do this again next year? Maybe we have too many rides? I know for our family personally, the full schedule didn't leave any room for other events.
You know without Larry & Naomi, we would be on hard times for finding people to lead the rides. Some have stepped up for a ride or two, but we still need more help. Larry & Naomi know of, and have been so many places; and they have shared them with us. I am sure that both of them would just like to be on a ride once in awhile instead of always leading it. Next year, trail boss a ride for the Club and give something back.
We have had the same main officers in the Club for all four years since our inception. Is there someone that wants to fulfill one of these in 2010 and bring in some new ideas? It won't hurt our feelings--at least I don't think so!
We have talked about it before, but what about our Club sponsoring a Poker Run or something? We could earn some funds for our use and we could also donate the remainder to a worthy cause. Setting up and running an event will take a lot of work, but it will be rewarding too. Where would be a good place to have a Poker Run for us--Austin area?
We will have some logistics to work out for next year since Rose no longer works at Renner Equipment. I would think that they and Honda will still support and sponsor us, but we will have to verify that. The huge advantage of being sponsored by Renner and the Honda Rider's Club of America (HRCA) is the co-pay for food during our planning meetings as well as a 75% payback on shirts, hats, and other Club items. If you notice, our items always include the HRCA logo, which is a requirement to receive the co-pay.
So we bought shirts the first year, hats have been provided for all that have belonged to the Club since 2006, and I did a photo calendar last year. What should we do this year for all members?
That's all for now. Hopefully I got you thinking a little on a few subjects. Remember that you can post a comment to this as well as all other postings. ~Dave
